Art was my first entertainment: I know a lot of artist will say that…but
really, truly it was. And it was my only entertainment for a long time;
we did not have a television, I couldn’t read yet and I had no one to
play with. My grandmother and great-grandmother were artist, so it
was it was accepted and encouraged.
Now, I cannot be away from the art for very long or I become restless.
When you have practiced ‘something’ for so long, it is odd when you
are separated from it. I need to smell oil paint, turpentine and hear the
scratch of the brush on canvas
